UNC’s English undergraduate curriculum features a wide range of courses in literature, writing, language, critical theory, film, and cultural studies. We offer British and American literature period courses, as well as special topics courses in Shakespeare, science fiction and fantasy, the Bible, Asian and Asian-American literature, Latina/o literature and literature of the Americas. We also offer creative writing courses in fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, and screenwriting.
The Department of English at UNC offers the English major with two emphasis areas: Liberal Arts and Secondary Education. Minors in English, Film, and Writing are also available. Finally, we offer a number of general education coursework in writing, literature, film, and cultural studies.
