Lisa Zimmerman

Lisa Zimmerman is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate with a B.A. in English and History from Colorado State University and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Washington University in St. Louis. Her poetry and fiction have appeared in anthologies as well as magazines including River Styx, the Colorado Review, The Sun, Atlanta Review, The Portland Review and Indiana Review, among other journals. She won the Redbook magazine short story contest in 1986. Lisa is the author of two poetry chapbooks and the full-length collection How the Garden Looks From Here, winner of the 2004 Violet Reed Haas Poetry Award. Her poetry has been nominated twice for the Pushcart Prize.

Lisa has taught writing workshops from K-12 in Fort Collins area schools and is also a residency artist with Young Audiences, this country’s leading source of arts-in-education programs and services. She has been the poet-in-residence at schools in Brighton, Aurora, and Idalia, and has been a teaching artist at the annual Aesthetic Education Institute of Colorado four times. She lives in north Fort Collins with her family.
