Sarah Allen

Sarah Allen is an Assistant Professor of English whose teaching and scholarship are in the areas of Rhetoric and Composition. Her scholarship, informed by Foucault's work on the care of the self, has been focused primarily on the practices of self writing in Montaigne's essays. Regarding herself, she says: "I am most recently working on a book project on imitation practices in writing, which is ultimately forcing my work out of its comfort zone (a space in which I have grappled with issues relevant to the personal essay) and into larger pedagogical and disciplinary concerns. My work on subjectivity and imitation also informs my teaching, as I continue to struggle to discover the most useful and effective ways of assisting students in engaging with difficult, dense material and in generating complex, rigorous writings of their own."
