Dr. Kallon, who holds a B.A. (summa cum laude) in Economics from Methodist College and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Virginia, joined the Department of Economics in August, 1993. He also serves as the Coordinator of the International Studies program. Prior to UNC, Dr. Kallon held faculty positions at two other institutions of higher learning (University of West Florida, 1983-87, and Gettysburg College, 1987-93) where he taught a variety of courses in economic theory, history of economic thought, African economic history and development, international trade and international finance. A citizen of Sierra Leone, Dr. Kallon's current research interests are in economic development and open-economy macroeconomics, with special emphasis on Sub-Saharan Africa. Spring 2007
