Dr. Connolly has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Colorado-Boulder. She earned her M.A. and Ph.D, both in Economics, from Northwestern University. She was a professor at Oregon State University for several years and also taught at Northwestern University and Loyola University of Chicago. She grew up in Greeley and is happy to be ‘home’ at UNC. Dr. Connolly teaches many core courses in economics, including microeconomics, applications of mathematics to economics, and econometrics (her favorite!). She also teaches public finance and regularly supervises directed studies, especially in public policy analysis. Her interest in econometrics and public policy extends to her research as well. She studies the effects of policies such as welfare reform and minimum wages on the economic well-being of low income families. Dr. Connolly has also published articles on the economics of nonprofit organizations. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Greeley Transitional House, which provides emergency shelter and short-term housing support for homeless families. Her favorite hobbies are downhill skiing, hiking, mountain climbing, and travel.
