UNC-DO IT Center OSEP Scholarship: Educational Interpreting Emphasis

is the recipient of a 2015-2020 grant award from the
U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs

The University of Northern Colorado, Distance Opportunities for Interpreter Training Center, was awarded a 4-year grant (2015-2020) from the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs to establish the Professional Educational Interpreter Project (OSEP) (#H325K150213).

This grant-funded scholarship will sponsor ASLEI students who are prepared to:

  1. Begin upper division/300 level coursework within the ASLEI major
  2. Select educational interpreting as their emphasis area
  3. Provide a 4-year service obligation with an IDEA eligible student(s), in exchange for the OSEP sponsorship

Through a competitive process, up to 30 students will be selected for a ~$28,000 scholarship that is inclusive of: an educational tuition and stipend, summer onsite residence hall accommodations, internship stipend if placement is away from student's home area.

The application to apply for the OSEP sponsorship can be completed as part of the ASLEI Application.

NOTE: If the student does not complete the bachelor's degree within the two years of sponsorship, or does not provide four years of service to an IDEA-eligible student, he/she must repay all the OSEP monies expended on his/her education to date.
