ASL DEMONSTRATION OF COMPETENCY (DOC)

April 13-17, 2016
June 15-19, 2016

The purpose of the UNC-DO IT Center ASL Demonstration of Competency is to determine your language readiness for admission and placement in the ASL-English Interpretation baccalaureate program. The program entry requirement is demonstrated ASL proficiency at a conversational level commensurate with four semesters of instruction in American Sign Language.

The screening takes place online through a UNC Blackboard online class
There is a charge of $150.00 for this screening.
ASLEI applications will not be reviewed until the screening is complete.

NOTE: 
If you are a nationally credentialed interpreter (RID or EIPA 4.0+ and EIPA written test) the ASL Demonstration of Competency will be waived.

The ASL Demonstration of Competency screening is administered through a UNC Blackboard online class and has 3 components:

    • ASL Expressive
    • ASL Knowledge: Linguistics and Culture.
    • ASL Receptive

In order to register and complete the ASL screening you must first submit the ASLEI application. Once the application has been submitted an email will be sent to you (two weeks prior to screening) with instructions on how to register.
