The DO IT Center has a Lending Library for working and aspiring
interpreters who are either currently enrolled in UNC-DO IT
Center courses and/or live in the RSA Mid-America Region (Arkansas,
Colorado, Louisiana, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma,
South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming). Interpreters striving
to improve their interpreting and/or communication skills
are invited to use these materials.
GUIDELINES
- Up to four items can be borrowed at one time from the
library
- The lending period is limited to thirty (30) days
- For any materials not returned, the standard loan rules
impose a minimum $25.00 charge. After the replacement value
of the item is ascertained, the full purchase price for
a replacement item (equal in value) will be charged. If
the lost one is no longer available, the DO IT Center will
specify an alternate item, on the same topic, as a replacement.
*If an extension to the thirty days is needed (7 day maximum),
approval must be requested from
Sherry
Schriver at the DO IT Center.
If other individuals are
awaiting use of the materials loaned to you, an extension
will not be granted.

MAILING INSTRUCTIONS
There have been several incidents of Lending Library items
being lost in the mail. Since you are responsible for paying
for replacement items, it is in your best interest to follow
these mailing instructions:
- Enclosed in the package you receive from the library
will be a non-tear, pre-addressed envelope and a bubble
wrap envelope.
- Insert the materials into the bubble wrap envelope.
- Insert the bubble wrap envelope and materials into the
non-tear pre-addressed envelope.
- Use packing tape to secure the pre-addressed envelope
(although the envelope has an adhesive strip, it is not
unusual for this to release during postal processing).
- Go to your local post office and mail the package Insured.
There is a minimal cost for insured packages within the
United States:
- For your own protection, we suggest you request a Delivery
Confirmation for an additional $0.60. Delivery Confirmation
allows you to track your package throughout the postal
process.
Please note:
If materials are lost and you cannot provide proof of insurance
and delivery confirmation, you will be financially responsible
for their replacement.
