The University and professors use this account to communicate with students; it is very important that students check this account regularly Bear NumberThe identification number used for all individuals associated with UNC, including students, faculty and staff. This number typically looks like “80XXXXXXX” The BreezewayThe walkway through McKee Hall on West Campus that has hosted many protests and rallies over the years. The Breezeway is named for the wind that sweeps through McKee Hall. “Candy”The nickname of Candelaria Hall on West Campus. Central CampusThe oldest part of the UNC campus, located between 8th and 10th Avenues and 16th and 20th Streets. Home to the Colleges of Performing & Visual Arts and Natural & Health Sciences and the Monfort College of Business. COFCollege Opportunity Fund. This fund helps students pay for college in the state of Colorado, and was created by the Colorado General Assembly. Please see www.collegeincolorado.org for more information. CreditA unit of academic work representing an hour of classroom time per week. An average course is 3 credits, meaning that the course meets 3 hours per week (usually MWF for 1 hour a day, or TR for 1.5 hours a day). An average course load is 15 credits per semester. Students need to complete 120 credits to graduate from UNC. DowntownGreeley’s revitalized downtown area is located north of 16th St. and east of 11th Ave., with the heart of downtown at 8th Ave. and 9th St. The many opportunities for UNC students to engage in the life of Greeley include the Ice Haus (where UNC Ice Hockey plays its home games), Mad Cow Creamery, Salvador Deli, Island Grill, The Rio, Woody’s Newsstand, Lincoln Park, and many more! Front DeskThe front desk of any residence hall serves as the hub of information for that community, and is staffed 24/7 by trained staff members. Residents can make change for laundry, check-in visitors, get mail and special packages, buy stamps, check-out cleaning equipment, games, and movies, and find out what is happening in their community and how to get involved. GreekThese students are not necessarily from Greece! Greeks at UNC include students who are in traditional (social), cultural, and academic fraternities and sororities. HDHall Director. This individual supervises the Resident Assistant staff, hall events, resident conduct and hall operations (room moves, etc.). Technical classification of Elementary Education majors. Major / minorA student’s major is their primary area of study at the University, usually requires at least 40 credits, and will be noted on their diploma upon graduation. The RA is the mentor, helper, planner, older sibling, and role-model for their community. Streets and AvenuesNavigating the city of Greeley is easy if you remember one rule. Avenues go north and south, and Streets go east and west (notice the underlined “st”). TKTobey-Kendel Hall. Home to the Department of Housing & Residence Life and the primary dining center for Central Campus. UCUniversity Center. The UC is our student union and conference center, representing the center of student life at UNC. Includes the offices of Student Activities, Career Services, Student Representative Council, Greek Life, GLBT Resource Office, University Program Council, Center for International Education, Event Planning and the UNC Card Office.
