Special Events & Monotony Breakers in the Dining Rooms

Spring 2012

Dining Services has special events and monotony breakers happening throughout the entire year. Here's a sampling of a few of the bigger events!

January

  • Opening Weekend
    January 7 - 8, 2012
    • Meal plans activate & normal hours resume on Saturday, January 7th (in both Tobey-Kendel and Holmes)
    • The UC Food Court & Bears Bistro re-open on Monday, January 9th
    • Retail Dining locations re-open on Monday, January 9th
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
    Monday, January 16, 2012
    • There are special hours for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
      • Tobey-Kendel Dining Room and Holmes Dining Hall are both open for Brunch and Dinner (instead of breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
      • The UC Food Court and all Gourmet to Go locations are Closed
    • Normal hours resume on Tuesday for dining rooms and Retail Dining locations.

February

  • "Claim Your Space" Campaign Kick-off Dinner
    Wednesday, February 1, 2012
    • Join us for a special dinner at Tobey-Kendel Dining Room and Holmes Dining Hall
    • There will be fun foods, games, and prizes to win!
    • Look at the menu & flyer (COMING SOON!)
  • February is Black History Month
    • Soul Food in the Dining Rooms
  • Valentine's Day

    • Check out the special treats!
  • Ash Wednesday

    • Do you know the history?
    • Fish will be available every Friday until Easter!

March

  • March is National Nutrition Month
    • Look for our healthy and nutritious options!
  • Daylight Saving Time
    Sunday, March 11, 2012 @ 2:00 a.m.
    • Don' forget to “Spring Forward” Saturday night!
  • Spring Break - have a safe and happy break!
    March 12 - 16, 2012
    • The last meal served before Spring Break will be Lunch on Friday, March 9th
    • Join us for a special dinner on Sunday, March 18th at Holmes and Tobey-Kendel
    • All other locations will re-open for normal business hours on Monday, March 19th
  • Performing and Visual Arts Community Theme
    • Special Menu Items at lunch (date/times yet to be solidified...)

April

  • Passover
    Sundown on Friday, April 6, 2012
    • Passover will start on Saturday, the 7th of April and will continue for 7 days until Friday, the 13th of April.
    • Note that in the Jewish calander, a holiday begins on the sunset of the previous day, so observing Jews will celebrate Passover on the sunset of Friday, the 6th of April. (source: when-is.com/passover-2012.asp)
    • Look for the special Passover items in the dining rooms.
  • Customer Appreciation Week
    Monday - Friday, (dates have yet to be determined...)
    • Tobey-Kendel Dining Room, Holmes Dining Hall, and the UC Food Court will all have special treats all week long!

May

  • Study Breaks
    Monday -Thursday, April 30 - May 4, 2012
    • Join us for complimentary study breaks during finals week!
    • Tobey-Kendel Dining Room and Holmes Dining Hall, 9:00pm - 10:00pm
