  Is this program for you?

Thank you for your interest in the Dietetic Internship Program of the University of Northern Colorado!

We are very proud of our innovative program, which:

  • Accepts up to 25 interns each year
  • Works on a national level and does not require relocation
  • Promotes student-designed, individually-tailored programs
  • Is accredited by the American Dietetic Association (ADA)
  • Boasts a high post-internship employment rate and a high passing rate for first-time test takers on the Registration Exam.

This web site is posted in order to help you obtain information about how the internship works and to provide you with access to the forms you need for application to the program.

UNC's Dietetic Internship is designed to accept up to 25 interns per year. Students, with the program director’s guidance, will select the facilities where they will complete their practice experience and will play a role in designing their program of study.

The program provides four academic graduate credits. These credits are required courses to be completed online during the first two weeks of the internship, followed by a three-day orientation in Greeley, CO. The courses are designed to orient interns to the program standards of practice and to ensure that each intern has the resources to attain competence in each area of practice.

Please note:

  • Read all information carefully because our application procedure differs greatly from those of traditional internship programs.
  • Securing sponsoring facilities and preceptors is the applicant's responsibility and does take time.
Providing potential preceptors with the required experience form will aid in their initial understanding of the program.
  • Encourage potential preceptors to visit this site for their preceptor manuals, which contain all the necessary forms and information they will need to participate.

Complete applications for students beginning the program in June (omit year) must be postmarked by mid-February. The matching date is mid-April. If, after reviewing the posted description of our program and application materials, you have further questions, please do not hesitate to call, email or write. You can find exact dates at Important Dates
