Admissions

Admission into Cumbres is competitive. Because admission to UNC's various education programs must first meet internal standards, primary consideration is given to those students whose high school or community college records reflect the level of academic achievement required for admission into UNC's teacher preparation program. Thus, high academic achievement will be necessary to compete successfully at the college level. Cumbres Grants for $1,500 per year are offered to the most qualified applicants in the program. These grants are renewable annually for up to a maximum of four years for students maintaining satisfactory academic progress. Cumbres Grants are available to incoming freshman and transfer students at UNC. The number of grants awarded in an academic year is contingent upon funding.
