Student Activities Programs
Fee per student per semester is $58.90
Services in this area provide students with entertainment, social programs, recreation and student success programming. Programs include International Film Series, Club Sports, Student Representative Council, Student Activities, Drug, Alcohol and Tobacco Education, University Program Council, Cultural Centers, GLBT Resource Office, Center for International Education, Women’s Resource Center, Graduate Affairs and UNC Student Radio Station.
Student Services
Fee per student per semester is $118.10
Services in this area provide support of intercollegiate athletic programs, student newspaper, and health immunization records and counseling. The UNC Counseling Center is the primary source of direct psychological services and education for UNC students. The portion of this fee for Intercollegiate Athletics allows students free admission to UNC athletic events. The portion of the fee for student newspaper allows students free periodic newspapers.
Administrative Services
Fee per student per semester is $23.60
The cost of providing administrative services for student fee funded areas. These services include accounting, purchasing, payroll and other general administrative costs attributable to student fee funded areas.
Bonded Facility Operating Costs
Fee per student per semester is $100.10
Fees support the operational cost of the Student Recreation Center/Intramurals, University Center, Health & Counseling Center and the Women’s Resource Center. The Student Recreation Center provides a safe, convenient, and modern facility with a wide range of weight and exercise equipment, basketball, volleyball, racquetball courts, aerobics rooms, a rock-climbing wall and intramural sport experiences. The University Center provides students with a variety of stores, services and rooms for student activities. The Health and Counseling Center offers direct psychological services and vital health education services. The Women’s Resource Center provides programs, discussions, and materials about women’s issues, initiatives and development. The Center promotes leadership, celebrates the achievements of women, and raises awareness on the status of women. Butler Field Building provides facilities for basketball, volleyball, training and strengthening rooms for all sports, equipment/locker rooms for all sports and a gymnasium. Jackson Field House supports baseball, soccer, rugby and miscellaneous recreational events.
Bonded Facility Repair and Renovation
Fee per student per semester is $17.00
Student fees fund the repair and renovation costs for student approved and funded facilities. These facilities include the University Center, Student Recreation Center, Health & Counseling Center and the Women’s Resource Center, and the Butler and Jackson Field Houses.
Bond Requirements

Fees fund bond payments for student approved and funded facilities include funding for UC Bond, Campus Recreation Center, Counseling Center (Cassidy Hall), Recreation and Athletic Facilities.

Tuition
Covers classroom instruction, student services, administration and facilities. Based on cost and demand, differential tuition may be charged for certain classes (business, nursing, theatre).
Library Fee
Differentially charged based on student’s program of study. Covers print and online library materials.
Technology Fee
Differentially charged based on student’s program of study. Used for equipping new smart classrooms, staffing and maintaining computer labs, and providing students access to academic software.
Academic Fees
A. Course fees are charged to underwrite in whole or in part the cost of consumable supplies in a laboratory or classroom including the replacement of specialized non-capital (under $5,000) laboratory equipment. These fees are primarily for science, art and theatre.
B. Participation Fees are charged for courses where the amount of the fee is passed through to a vendor for the use of specialized facilities or services. This may also cover costs associated with field trips required for the course. Examples include ski passes and archaeology field trips.
C. Supervision fees charged to cover the cost of faculty travel and related expenses for supervision of clinical, student teaching and similar courses. These are primarily for Education and Behavioral Sciences practicums and observations, and Nursing clinical courses at off-site locations.
D. Assessment fees are charged to cover the cost of third party tests. The fee is passed through to an external vendor. These are primarily used in applied psychology and special education courses where students are learning to administer and interpret tests as part of their curriculum.
On-Line Course Fees
On-Line Course Fee-online fees pay for adjunct cost resulting from increased course sections and smaller class sizes; it also funds instructional designers, development and training to enhance online course offerings.
**The student health insurance premium is a pass through by our current insurance provider. Student health insurance is mandatory, for all students registered for 9 or more credit hours, but can be waived by providing proof of comparable insurance before the 10th day of classes every fall semester. If the student health insurance is purchased for the academic year, summer is covered as well.
