Robert W. Larson
Robert W. Larson is a professor emeritus of history from the University of Northern Colorado. He received his undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Denver and his Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico.
He taught western history at UNC from 1960 to 1990, receiving the school's Distinguished Scholars Award in 1977. In addition to publishing the centennial history for the University of Northern Colorado in 1989, he is the author of several books including "Populism in the Mountain West" and "Red Cloud: Warrior-Statesman of the Lakota Sioux."
His most recent book, Gall: Lakota War Chief," received the Spur Award for the Best Western Nonfiction Biography for 2007 from the Western Writers of America, the Robert M. Utley Award from the Western History Association for the best military history published in 2008, and first prize in the Co-Founder’s Book Award from Westerners International in 2008.
He is currently writing a biography of Taos artist Ernest L. Blumenschein.
