The Office of Engagement is highlighting The Facing Project: Facing CHANGE taking place at UNC. This project began in fall 2016 and concluded in spring 2017.

The Facing Project is a national initiative that challenges college campuses across the nation to "face" issues that are relevant to their communities by collection community stories, writing stories from the first person perspective, and then sharing them back to the community through a creative outlet, such as a book, or theatre production.

This community engaged learning project is connecting undergraduate students from Anthropology to a national initiative called the Facing Project. Students are working locally to interview community members and gather stories that they are then retelling in their participants’ voices. The stories address the issue of change in our community, as encountered by diverse individuals. The stories will be compiled into a published book that will be officially launched at a reception on April 26, 2017, held at the Kress Cinema in Greeley, CO.

By engaging community voices in reflections on change, social connectedness and mutual understanding, in our rapidly changing community, we envision that these stories and perspectives will inform collective understanding, illustrate the assets, and identify potential areas of opportunity for future collaboration.

Donations to this campaign are directed to the Community and Civic Engagement Fund at the UNC Foundation. Funds will support publishing the book, the book launch reception, and other programs related to Community and Civic Engagement at the University of Northern Colorado.
