The Mortar Board Gold Key chapter at UNC was founded in 1972. As the chapter grew on campus throughout the years, traditional activities also grew and now include favorite professor reception and the First Year Scholars award ceremony. In addition to these events, this year’s Mortar Board members volunteered time with Dos Rios Elementary School to promote the national Mortar Board project, Reading is Leading. We also participated in our regional project at Garden of the Gods, the Women’s Gala, Cans to Candelaria, Operation Christmas Child, holiday cards for American Troops, and various Academic Excellence Week activities. As you can see, our Mortar Board chapter is setting an example of scholarship, leadership, and service among our peers and in the community. We look forward to continuing our rich traditions with our new members for the 2008-2009 academic year.
