Edith Cowan University is located in Perth, Australia and is the second largest institution in Western Australia with approximately 21,000 students. With an international student population of nearly 4,000, Edith Cowan is a truly international university. Courses are offered on two different campuses within the city. Edith Cowan places a great emphasis on conducting research with industry partners. Location
Perth, located 20 miles from the Indian Ocean, is the largest city in Western Australia. Perth is friendly, safe, and relaxed, yet offers all of the attractions of a large international city. The warm and sunny climate allows ample opportunity to relax at the beach or enjoy a wide variety of water sports including surfing, sailing, scuba diving, or whale watching. The hinterlands, just north of Perth, allow for close encounters with critters unique to Australia including kangaroo and koala bears.

Activities
All students will take part in orientation week, which will present students with activities and opportunities to get involved on campus. Edith Cowan has many clubs, organizations, and a fully equipped sports and fitness center.

Courses
Students of any major will find relevant course work at ECU. Courses can be applied to Liberal Arts core, university electives, or towards your major. 15 ECU credit points = 4 UNC credits. Students will enroll in 3-4 courses at ECU (45 - 60 ECU credit poitns). The Monfort College of Business has approved Edith Cowan courses for transfer credit. MCB students should contact Dr. James Reardon for course approvals.

Students can take course units at any of ECU's campuses.
Please keep in mind that UNC's fall semester is ECU's semester 2 and UNC's spring semester if ECU's semester 1 when looking for courses.

Eligibility and Availability
To be eligible to apply students must have at least a 2.5 GPA and have completed at least twosemester of courses at UNC. This program is open to all majors. 2-3 exchange spots are available each semester. Students may only apply for one semester. Students will be selected for exchange based upon GPA, coursework, and quality of essay.
Housing and Meals
Students have two options: living on-campus or off-campus at any of the three campuses. Many options exist and various price points. There are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6-bedroom options. Click here for complete housing information.
Students will be able to purchase groceries and cook for themselves. Some meals may be purchased at on-campus cafés.
Application
Students must first complete the UNC application for exchange. Applications will be evaluated and selections will be made immediately after the application deadline. If selected, the student will need to complete an admissions application for Edith Cowan University. The Edith Cowan application can be done online.
Visa
Students will need to apply for visa to study in Australia for four months. The visa process is simple and can be done online. Australia offers several visa types that may include study. We recommend students apply for the Australian Non-Award Student Visa (sub-class 575).
