International Student Support

CIE English Language Lab

The CIE Writing Lab is located inside the CIE offices in the University Center. Students can meet with a tutor for 1-on1 academic support on any assigment. There is a sign up sheet for 30 minute appointments posted on the lab door.

English Language learning software in the lab: pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar.

Cross-Cultural Connections

English conversation practice for international students and scholars from all nations with Dr. Tad and Jane Gilmore.

International Ambassador Program

Each semester the Center for International Education matches American students who have volunteered to be tutors with international students who have requested a tutor. These tutoring sessions can follow a variety of formats, depending upon the needs of the international student. The tutoring times can focus on academic content, conversational English, or just spending time together in friendship. Click here for more information.

Individual Tutoring Programs

The Writing Center: The English Department at the University of Northern Colorado has a Writing Center in Ross Hall, Room 1230. The telephone number is 970.351.2056.

The Center for Human Enrichment: The Center for Human Enrichment has also designated individuals who will tutor international students in specific course content areas. A list is posted each semester of the courses and the tutors that are available for that semester. For more information, you may contact the Center for Human Enrichment, Michener L-78, or call 970.351.1905.

These services are free for all registered UNC students.

TOEFL Information

The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is not administered on the University of Northern Colorado's campus.

The closest location to Greeley for taking the TOEFL is in Fort Collins, Colorado, on the campus of Colorado State University . The Intensive English Language Program administers both the Paper-Based TOEFL and the Computer-Based TOEFL. For a detailed schedule of the test dates and times: http://www.colostate.edu/Depts/IEP/.

The Center for International Education does have resource books that my be checked out to study for the TOEFL exam. You may check them out by contacting the UNC Intensive English Language Program Coordinator at cie@unco.edu or call 970.351.2386.
