Meet Our Peer Staff

We are fortunate to have a wonderful peer staff who are excited to work with our CHE first-year and upper-class students.

peer1Tasha Hess, Peer Mentor
Hello all! My name is Tasha Hess, I am a junior declared in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology. This will be my first year as a peer mentor and I am beyond excited to make it our best first year together! I am a Stryker Scholar recipient in addition to being a part of CHE. I am from the beautiful mountain town of Estes Park. I am a twin, not identical but fraternal to my amazing brother Josh. I am an avid golfer, hiker, and anything that leads to adventures. I am also a die-hard Broncos fan! I am so excited to meet all of you and make this year memorable for all of us in CHE!

My advice to incoming freshmen students would be to not come in to college with the same mentality you had in high school. Get ready for a lot of changes (great changes of course!) Be prepared to change your study, scheduling/time management, and note taking habits to be successful! High school and college and two different ball parks and just be ready and open to change.

Samantha "Sam" Marroquin
, Peer Mentorpeerstaff
Hey! My Name is Samantha Marroquin, but I'd liked to be called Sam. I'm studying in Physical Therapy and minoring in biology. I am a member of the Daniels Fund Scholar, Stryker Institute for Leadership Development, as well as a proud member of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority Inc. I love the ocean and plan to move within the area someday.

One of my goals in life is to receive my doctorate degree, so look forward to calling my Dr. Marroquin! I'm very excited to be a part of the CHE family and share my passion for education with others!

Jalen Taylor
, Peer Mentor
My name is Jalen Taylor and I am a sophomore acting major here at UNC. I ampeerstaff2 involved in student senate and one of the peer advisors here at CHE. I am so excited to begin a new journey this year full of new experiences, friends, and love.

One piece of advice that I would give would be to never allow anyone to tell you that you cannot do something. If you put your mind to it you can make anything happen. I am so excited to meet each CHE student that walks through the door and see the journeys you go on through the school year.

Megan Stoneman
, Cumbres Peer Mentor
Hey all. My name is Megan Stoneman. I am a junior in the Elementary Education Ppeerrogram with an endorsement in teaching English as a second language. I am also a part of the Cumbres Program. Here are a few things that you should know about me. I love to travel. Swaziland, Africa is the farthest away from home that I have ever gone. The beautiful children there stole my heart. Next, I was born in the wrong century. I really enjoy knitting and spinning my own yarn. Also books are one of my favorite things. Finally, I love conversation over a cup of coffee or tea. I look forward to meeting all of you.
