Copyright and Teaching

Legality in the Classroom

copyright

Do you use Blackboard, or another Learning Management System (LMS), to provide
course materials for face-to-face or online classes? Are you wondering about the legality
of providing certain resources through Blackboard or other online systems?

UNC General Counsel Dan Satriana will present copyright law basics with a focus on
teaching and use of an LMS, suggest best practices, and answer any specific questions
you may have. Dan will frame his discussion around the following topics:

  • Copyright and teaching – application of Fair Use
  • Teaching in the online environment – requirements for making resources available through Blackboard or another LMS
  • Providing access to resources in Blackboard or another LMS in compliance with copyright - books, journals, articles and streaming video

Bring your questions and join Dan for a conversation on copyright and teaching.
