eInstruction

Einstruction’s Classroom Performance System (CPS) is also commonly known as “clickers,” and is a way to engage your students, gather data about their learning and do assessments. Here is more information you will need:
1. What is the Classroom Performance System? watch a video demonstration here

2. What do you get?

  • When you decide to use CPS in at least one of your classes this semester, you will receive an Instructor Test Kit shipped to you directly from eInstruction.
  • The Kit includes a radio frequency receiver which will plug into the USB port on your computer, a student response pad just like the one your students will purchase in the bookstore, and a CD with the CPS software on it.
  • You will also have access to online training and support resources on the website at www.einstruction.com
  • You will also be receiving complete instructions on how to set up your classes, how to interface with Blackboard (if you choose to use it with CPS – that is optional) and how to instruct students to register their response pads.

3. What is the cost (to faculty and to students)?

  • There is NO cost to faculty to use CPS.
  • Students will pay $24 for a new response pad or “clicker”, $18 for a used one at the bookstore.
  • Then students will go online for instructions to register the clicker for your class. Students will go online to register their clickers using a credit/debit card, paying either $39 for a lifetime registration fee which covers them for their whole college career – or they pay $13 per semester regardless of how many of their classes are using clickers.

4. How to order? Please contact Karen Thompson at UNC bookstore, as soon as possible. Her phone number is 351-2135, and her email address is Karen.thompson@unco.edu

5. What to do next?  Even if you have used CPS in the past, we do need to know for which classes you plan to use it for the upcoming semester, for setup purposes. Contact Li Wang at li.wang@unco.edu and give her information including:

  • Instructor name
  • Instructor email address
  • Instructor phone number
  • Department name
  • Course name, Course number and Section(s)
  • Approximate number of students in class
  • Class start date
  • Does instructor need test kit? Yes/no (only necessary if this is his/her first class with CPS). If yes, what’s your shipping address?
  • Does instructor use Mac or PC computer for instruction?
  • Do you use Blackboard at all for the class(es) with which you plan to use CPS?
  • Brad Balabann at eInstruction will set up your courses
