You should include an attendance policy in the course syllabus. Regular attendance in all classes will be assumed and encouraged. The instructor will determine the relationship between class attendance and the objective of the class and the way in which he or she will evaluate attendance as a factor in the achievement of the student. The instructor has the responsibility to inform students of policies since these policies relate to the students’ grades. The student has the responsibility of knowing the policies in each course.
Registered Students Who Fail to Attend Class
A faculty member may drop a student from a course if the student has not attended the first two 50 minute sessions of a Greeley campus course, or the first class session of an Extended Studies course. The student must notify the instructor if the student cannot attend during this time. Since not all instructors will execute this option, it is the student’s responsibility to follow the drop procedure and not assume the instructor will drop him or her.
