Career Services

Career Services at the University of Northern Colorado is a part of the Office of Student Engagement under the Division of Academic Affairs.   Career Services provides a full-service, client-centered, centralized approach to academic major selection, career decision-making, internship and job search assistance, and testing services for students and alumni wishing to pursue post graduate employment and graduate school opportunities.

Office for Academic Support and Advising

The Office of Academic Support and Advising, on the Greeley campus is committed to student success through partnerships with campus and student communities. ASA provides academic and personal growth opportunities for a diverse student body through a variety of customized support services that meet individual needs. ASA values and promotes honesty, trust, respect, integrity and responsibility.

Academic services include the following:

  • an orientation program for new students
  • advising and assistance in selecting an academic major for exploring (undeclared) students
  • academic support for individuals experiencing academic difficulties
  • access to individual and group-led tutorial services
  • Academic Learning Communities for entering students

Counseling Center

The staff at the UNC Counseling Center includes a licensed psychologist, licensed mental health counselors, a psychiatrist, pre-doctoral interns and practicum counselors.
The Counseling Center staff provides professional counseling services to currently enrolled UNC students as well as UNC faculty and staff members. Their services are free.

Referrals:  Anyone concerned about the health, wellbeing, and safety of a student may complete an online form (https://apps.unco.edu/HealthAndSafetyReferral/). Any of the following exhibited in student behavior are examples of reasons to fill out the form:

  • harmful to themselves or others
  • suicidal threats gestures or attempts
  • alcohol problems
  • eating concerns
  • self-injurious behavior (e.g., cutting self)
  • pattern of bizarre behaviors or actions
  • hospitalization for drug or alcohol use
  • sudden rapid weight loss
  • poor health due to restrictive eating
  • disruption to the living or learning community

This list is not comprehensive.  This form is designed to help students of concern, not punish them. There are not negative consequences for making a referral. Referring persons may remain anonymous and still report. Reports are confidential. They will be reviewed by the campus emergency response team in order to determine the best way to help the student.
