Q-01. What are some recommendations for increasing the chances that the manuscript I submit will be accepted for publication?

A. Review the material on the CES Web site. You are especially encouraged to review the evaluation form for the type of manuscript you plan to submit and consult the guidelines for authors. Finally, read the following editorial:

Q-02. I am an author. How can I submit my manuscript for review?

A.  You can submit your manuscript for review via email attachment. 

Email Attachment Submission

  • Submission is expedited when you send CES your manuscript by email attachment. This is the preferred method for submission. Nearly all submissions to CES are done electronically. You'll receive prompt confirmation of receipt of the manuscript by email.

CES only accepts manuscripts in a digital file format via email attachment. Paper submissions are not accepted because the review process relies on electronic storage of files on the CES Web site and the subsequent exchange of manuscript files among reviewers.


Q-03. How do I send my manuscript as a file using email? What is an "email attachment"?

A. You can send CES your manuscript file as an "email attachment." That is, you send CES your manuscript file electronically when you send CES an email message.

If you can read, compose, and send an email message, you can attach a file to an email message.

The process of attaching a file to an email message is not difficult at all. Sending an attachment is quite common. The procedure for attaching an email message varies with type of email application. However, here are the general instructions:

  1. Open the email application that you use to read or compose email messages.
  2. Every email application that allows you to read and compose email messages allows you also to attach a file as an email attachment.
  3. Click on the "Help" button in your email application.
  4. Read the instructions, specific to your email application, for attaching a file.
  5. Compose a new email message in your email application.
  6. Depending on your email application, you should see a button called  "Email Attachment", "Attachment", "Attach", "Send File", "File to Send" or some other similarly named button. Click on that button.
  7. A dialog box will prompt you to select a file on your computer.
  8. Find the file you want to send. Then, click on the file.
  9. The file you selected will be displayed as an attachment in your email application.
  10. When you are ready to send the email message, both the email message and the selected file will be sent electronically to the recipient.
  11. The recipient receives both the email message and the attached file.
  12. The recipient opens the attached file by clicking on it -- after checking the file for a possible virus with an anti-virus checker.
  13. After you send CES your attached manuscript file, you will be informed promptly of receipt by email.

Q-04. May I see the evaluation forms used by reviewers?

A. Of course. You may view a sample evaluation form used by reviewers.


Q-05. How do I save or "download" a file from the CES Web site to my computer?

A. Generally, there are two ways to "download" a linked file (like a presentation or document) from the CES Web site. Depending on your browser, you may choose to use either of these following methods.

1. Just click on the link to a file that you want to view or save. A dialog box, in most cases, will appear that allows you to view or save the particular file. 

If you choose to open the file, the application used to open the file will start. You can then save the file directly from your application to your computer.

If you prefer to save the file to your computer, click on the save option and browse to a location where you want to save the file, usually to a folder on your hard drive. After you have saved the file, double-click on the file to open it.

2. Or, you can select the link by moving the mouse cursor directly over the link. Then, right-click on the link to save the particular file to your computer. A selection box will appear. Depending on your browser, select the "Save Target As", "Save Link As", or "Save Link Target As" option from the selection box and save the file to an appropriate storage location on your computer. Later, open the file by double-clicking on the file.


Q-06. Will I be notified when I submit my manuscript to you?

A. Of course. CES notifies you promptly by email when your manuscript arrives. You will also receive an email notification when your manuscript is sent for review by three editorial board members.


Q-07. Does my manuscript have to be submitted under a category classification?

A. Yes. CES manuscripts are organized into 4 separate categories:

  • Quantitative
  • Qualitative
  • Position Paper
  • Innovative Methods

Different evaluation forms are used for each category.


Q-08. Does my manuscript have to conform to the "APA style" format?

A. Yes, every manuscript submitted to CES for review must follow APA style guidelines.  Here is more information about APA style.

If your document does not follow the APA style format, your manuscript will not be accepted for review.
