Study Abroad in Querétaro, Mexico

The Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ) is a public university in the picturesque colonial city of Santiago de Querétaro.

Location

UAQ's main campus is located in Santiago de Querétaro which is located in the Bajío region of Mexico know for its high quality of life and relative safety within Mexico. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Querétaro has well preserved colonial architecture.

Queretaro is located in the Bajil region, one of the smallest regions in Mexico, but with a population of 1.5 million, it is also one of the most heterogeneous geographically, with ecosystems varying from deserts to tropical rainforest, especially in the Sierra Gorda, which is filled with microecosystems. The area of the state was located on the northern edge of Mesoamerica, with both the Purépecha Empire and Aztec Empire having influence in the extreme south, but neither really dominating it.  Spanish conquest was focused on the establishment of the Santiago de Querétaro, which still dominates the state culturally, economically and educationally.
