Full Time VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT:
Four Positions: Three Assistant Professor tenure-track and one Assistant Professor term. One of the hired may be at the Associate level.

Qualifications and Experience:
Requirements: Earned doctorate in reading/literacy education, elementary education, or curriculum and instruction with a literacy emphasis and related fields; experience working with diverse populations. Three years of K-12 teaching experience and additional expertise in Elementary Mathematics, Elementary Social Studies or Social Foundations of Education are preferred but not required.
Position Description:
Teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in reading and elementary language arts to prepare novice and practicing K-12 teachers; work in field-based teacher education programs; work effectively with undergraduate and graduate students and faculty on-campus and in external degree programs; advise graduate students; conduct research and scholarly activities in areas of literacy education; use appropriate technological tools and alternate delivery systems in instruction; work in curriculum and program development.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include health, life, and dental insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement programs. Other benefits may be available based on position.

Tuition Grants for Dependents:
Dependents and Spouses of UNC Employees who are employed as .5 FTE or above are entitled to and eligible for Dependent Tuition Grants. Dependent Tuition Grants will cover in-state tuition charges and undergraduate students must register for the College Opportunity Fund to receive the grant. Further requirements may exist.
