Instructions for Elementary Postbaccalaureate application

To apply, submit the School of Teacher Education appliction (including three letters of recommendation), AND a Graduate School application. All of these materials are done online and the directions are below. The admission decision cannot be made without both applications completed. 

Free School of Teacher Education online application will take only a few minutes of your time to complete. However, before starting it, you should have:

  • your unofficial or official transcripts in front of you;
  • names, phone numbers and e-mail addresses of three professional references
  • candidate letter of no more than 500 words, addressng your potential as a graduate student and teacher. You should be able to copy and paste the letter into the on-line application.
  • You will enter your cohort location preference, and may put them in order with 1 being first, etc.

Ask you references to complete a short recommendation form for you at UNCReference.com as soon as possible. These three letters of recommendation are the only ones required for this program.

 

The Graduate School online application asks some of the same questions and requires a $50 application fee. This is where your GPA will be calculated. Please read the instructions below to avoid confusion and errors. You may also print them out and use as a guide.

Directions for the UNC Graduate School online Application:

  • Once you click on the link above, look for the link/button on the left that says New Applicant User Login.  Then you will be prompted through the process. 
  • You will select Graduate Application.
  • You will select Summer 2010 for the Admission Term
  • Please enter the appropriate information for
  • Name
  • Mailing Address & Phone
  • Permanent Address & Phone
  • Personal Information
  • Emergency Contact Information
  • Regarding your Planned Course of Study:
    You have two options here. 

a.  If you are applying for your Teacher Licensure only, please select Teacher Licensure: Elementary Education and move on.  Make sure that “No” is selected under the drop down menu.

b.  If you are also planning on applying for the Masters of Arts in Teaching in addition to Teacher Licensure, please select Education:  Elementary Education MAT.  Then you will begin the “licensure in addition to your degree program” and select “Yes” under the drop down menu.  Then you will select the “Next Program” button and go to the scroll down menu again and select Elementary Education.

  • Continue entering information for Previous College and Additional Information.
  • Under the field “Additional Information” is where you will choose your cohort location.  If you are going to apply for more than one cohort location, please list your preferences in order of preference from highest to lowest at the data field where it says: “I am applying for a program offered at (enter one of the following):”  You may enter the site(s) you would like to attend in this data field.  For instance, Loveland, Denver Metro Area, Main Campus- Greeley would signify that your choices (in order) are Loveland (1), Denver (2), Greeley (3).
  • You will then pay for and submit your online application.  Congratulations!

    (UNC transcripts not necessary)

Your application packet (which comes from a combination of the two on-line appliations) will be evaluated with the Application Criteria Rubric. Do not complete it, this is for your information only.
