This cartoon demonstrates locus of causality (internal).  Lucy asks Linus what he sees when he looks at the clouds.  Linus responds with very imaginative, sophisticated answers.  When Charlie Brown is asked what he sees, he quickly negates what he was thinking.  Charlie Brown feels very ashamed of himself since he didnÕt analyze the clouds beyond the obvious.

This cartoon demonstrates stability of causality.  Charlie Brown believes that failure is inevitable, so there is no point in trying to eat lunch with the little red-haired girl.  Charlie Brown is attributing his failure to stable causes because he feels that nobody will ever like him and that will never change.  He feels he will be a Òblock headÓ in the future because that is what he has been known as in the past.

This cartoon demonstrates controllability of causality.  Snoopy doesnÕt come to eat his food when Charlie Brown calls him.  Charlie Brown feels that he can control SnoopyÕs behavior by threatening to feed his food to the cat next door.  Charlie Brown is successful in getting Snoopy to come and get his food because he put forth the effort he believed would influence the outcome of the situation.
