The article that this diagram is based on discusses how the characteristics stated above can be used effectively in the family context; however this can also be applied to an educational context. As a teacher, it is vital that students clearly understand what is expected of them and that relevant goals are set and constructive feedback is given. Another important aspect is that students feel the teachers are centered and interested in the students themselves. Giving students choices empowers them with a feeling of a variety of possibilities in which they can choose, but also making them responsible for their decisions. The teachers also need to show commitment to their students so the students feel comfortable enough to become unselfconsciously involved in what he/she is interested in. Finally the students need to be challenged with complex opportunities to learn and grow. If these characteristics are utilized in the classroom, then students are more likely to order their lives in the future to make flow possible
