Are You Interested in Our Theory?
Interest theory is a topic-specific motivational state that arises out of an attraction to a particular domain of activity (O'Donnel, Reeve, Smith Educational Psychology: Reflection for Action ). Interest does not neccessarily mean that one likes the activity. for example, someone may be interested in tornados, but not like them. Alternately, someone may like coffee, but not be particularly interested in it. (Bergin, DA. "Influences on Classroom Interest," Educational Psychologist )
