RESEARCH AND WEBPAGE INSTRUCTION DAY

Reading Assignment

• Read chapters 5 & 6 of the textbook (take quiz before class).

Activities

• Learn how to make a website (it's a good idea to bring a flash drive).
  • I'll teach you how to use Dreamweaver. You can use a different program if you want.
• Start compiling information on your topic relevant to these 4 questions:
  • What are the main motivational patterns related to your topic and how would you define them?
  • How do these motivational patterns affect learning?
  • What is the cause of these motivational patterns?
  • How can productive motivational patterns be fostered?
• Use Inspiration to start making a concept map of information about your topic.
  • Discuss this concept map with me.
• Choose an article on your topic from the learning resources to read for next class period.
  • Each group member should choose a different article to read.
  • Talk with me about what articles would be good ones.

GROUP WORK DAY

Reading Assignment

• One of the articles on your topic from the learning resources.
• Study other articles on your topic from the learning resources as needed.

Activities

• Each group member should take a turn explaining what they learned from their article. During this process, take time to clarify any confusion you might have about the article or the ideas. Feel free to ask me to help provide clarification.
• Continue compiling information on your topic.
• Continue working on your concept map.
• Start to analyze Calvin by answering these 3 questions:
  • In terms of your motivational topic, what is Calvin's motivational pattern?
  • What does Calvin have this particular pattern?
  • What can Ms. Wormwood do about it?

GROUP WORK & PEER REVIEW DAY

Activities

• Get peer review assignments.
• Complete peer reviews.
• Start revising your website according to the feedback you got on the peer reviews. TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY. DON'T JUST MAKE SURFACE LEVEL REVISIONS.

GROUP WORK DAY

• Discuss your website with me.
• Work on planning a 10-minute presentation.

PRESENTATION & COMNPREHENSIVE PLAN DAY

Activities

• Do a 10-minute presentation of your topic and analysis of Calvin.
• Get with new group to work on developing a comprehensive plan.
• Assign responsibility for taking the lead on the different areas (curriculum & instruction, assessment, classroom management, one-on-one interaction, and communication with Calvin's parents).
• Work on completing the comprehensive plan.
• Make a plan for how you will (1) review each other's work, (2) put it all together, and (3) get it to me.

REVISED WEBSITES DUE (load onto my computer at START of class)

REPORT OF INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITIES DUE (turn in a hard copy)

COMPREHENSIVE PLANS DUE (should be emailed to me by 5pm).
