Spring Bay Boulders

These massive boulders are located at the picnic area on the north end of Spring Bay. The main boulder is easily identified by the huge crack running all the way through it.

1.*V1. Fun warm up.

2.***V2. Perfect hand crack with a slight kick-back at the top.

3.***V5? Classic - but scarry. The crux involves a long reach off a micro side-pull right at the top! The ground was kind of hard at the base, so I had my kids build up a sand pile before attempting the crux. The lower part of the problem involves some cool balancy moves and nice crimps. Bring your footwork for this problem.

4.**V2. This problem goes up the large, rounded flake. Another fun warm-up.

5.**V1. Sit start on a small right facing flake. Head straight up to ledge and then to a triangular hold or the edge of the arete.

6.*V4. High tide traverse start to #7.

7.**V3? Start with some crimps on the ledge, then make a reach for a pinch hold. Hit the jugs and top out.

8.*V1? Straight up the rounded flake and into some jugs.

I didn't get a picture of these boulders, but this video has some clips of the area and some climbing on #2 and #3.
