UNC School Psychology Program Rated in Top 10
UNC’s Ph.D. Program in School Psychology in the College of Education’s School of Applied Psychology and Counselor Education has been rated one of the top 10 producers of graduates for academic positions across the nation since 1990. UNC tied with the University of Minnesota and the Mississippi State University (all 3 were rated number 6) and fell between the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Texas. School psychologists are in great demand across the U.S. and UNC students usually are offered positions before they graduate. School psychologists provide a variety of mental health services to children, youth, teachers, and families including consultation, assessment, counseling, intervention, and prevention activities such as youth development. These ratings appeared in the April 2004 issue of Psychology in the Schools. Now in its 42 nd year, Psychology in the Schools is the longest continuously published journal in the field of school psychology.
