Doctoral Degree Requirements

| Contact academic advisor | This faculty member has been assigned to work with you in establishing the learning experiences that you will follow as part of your doctoral program. |
| Form Program Planning Committee | This Committee is chaired by your advisor and must include at least one additional member form the academic faculty of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and one member from outside the faculty of this Program for a minimum of three members. |
| Design a Plan of Study | This process will be done with your Program Planning Committee. This plan must conform to the established standards for required courses and minimal credit hours, as specified by the Graduate School in the current issue of the Bulletin. Doctoral students in the Program must enroll in 12 hours of Doctoral Core course (two courses of six credits each) that must be taken sequentially in the Fall and Spring Semesters which immediately follow your admission into the Ed.D. program. |
| Complete Residency Requirements | You will need to satisfy a doctoral residence requirement which is defined as registration for at least nine semester hours of graduate courses in two semesters. |
| Complete the Written and Oral Comprehensive Examinations | Your Program Planning Committee and academic advisor will work with you to develop a strategy to address this requirement. |
| Prepare a Written Dissertation Proposal | You should work closely with your research advisor in development of this document. |
| Present and Defend a Completed Dissertation | You will participate in a final oral examination during which you will be asked to defend and explain the research conclusions reached and the recommendations made as they relate to the field of educational leadership. |
