Fairs and Events

Each semester Career Services hosts various events to help get students and Alumni connected with employers. Upcoming spring fairs and networking events are:

Tuesday, June 12, 2012
When:  Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm.
Where:  Marriott Denver Tech Center, 4900 S. Syracuse St.
Who:  Exclusively for alumni of participating Colorado colleges and universities.
Cost:  There is no cost for entry, however a printed copy of your résumé will be your entry ticket.
Parking:  Free parking will be available in the Marriott Denver Tech Center parking garage.
 
Helpful Tips:

  • When you arrive at the event, visit the UNC registration table to be entered into our raffle drawing.
  • Research companies you're interesting in meeting.
  • Bring more résumés than you expect to hand out.
  • Dress professionally.

Here is a quick checklist of what to do before attending a fair or networking event:

  1. Develop your resume; you may use Optimal Resume to help build your resume. You will need to use your @bears.unco.edu email to create an account.
  2. Have your resume reviewed by a Career Counselor; you may meet with a Career Counselor during drop-in hours 12-3 pm Monday through Friday or call (970) 351-2127 to make an appointment.
  3. See a list of employers attending by creating an account on Bears Career Connection.
    1. Once you are logged in, click on "Career Events"
    2. Click "Search"
    3. Click on the name of the fair you will attend
    4. Click "View Employers Attending"
    5. Cick "Search" and you will see the latest list of registered employers and internship sites.
  4. Research companies of interest; Look at their mission statement and learn about the company so that you can speak with the recruiters specifically about their company.
  5. Apply online before the event to demonstrate you are serious about the opportunity.
  6. After the event, make sure to follow-up with the employers by sending a thank you note.
