Panopto

Panopto is an all-in-one video platform that is integrated with the Canvas Learning Management System.  The Panopto toolbox includes lecture capture recording, live streaming, quizzing, video content searching and more.

Why record our lectures?

In the last few years, lecture capture has surged in popularity.  Students at institutions around the world are discovering how helpful it is to review lecture materials as they do homework and study for exams.  These recordings not only help students revisit complex topics after class, but they also allow them to engage more actively in class rather than focus their time on taking notes.  By simply recording our lectures, we help our students learn at their own pace.

There are over seventy classrooms across campus configured for lecture capture. This configuration includes a high-quality microphone, screen capture and document camera video capture. The Infrastructure and Academic Technology team within IM&T is currently evaluating cameras and will potentially include high definition video capture as an additional upgrade in the future. High Tech rooms that have received upgrades since 2015 now support lecture capture and from now on all new classroom builds will include the basic lecture capture upgrades as well.
