- Hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating student employees, practicum students and/or interns.
- Registering and scheduling teams and individual participants for classes, leagues, services and/or special events.
- Maintaining program records and employee records and payroll information, and assisting with payroll processing and data entry.
- Supervising indoor and outdoor facilities during intramural leagues, club sports contests, drop-in recreation times, fitness classes and/or special events.
- Planning, implementing, supervising and evaluating special events.
- Assisting in the promotion of all Campus Recreation programs.
Position-Specific Responsibilities
The Intramural Sports Graduate Assistant will provide support to the Assistant Director of Intramural & Club Sports in the training and supervision of intramural sports officials and supervisors. This Graduate Assistant will conduct intramural and special event registration, schedule teams and participants, and conduct related informational meetings.
The Club Sports Graduate Assistant provides support to the Coordinator of Intramural & Club Sports in the training and supervision of the club sports officers & coaches. He/She will assist with the general accounting processes and paperwork related to club sports. He/She will work with and advise the Club Sports Council and team representatives.
The Fitness & Wellness Graduate Assistant will support the Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness as well as the Coordinator of Fitness in all aspects related to the program. He/She will implement programs and services, train and supervise the student fitness employees, and conduct fitness assessments.
Qualifications
The Graduate Assistant will possess a Bachelor's degree, preferably in recreation, kinesiology, physical education, sport management or closely related field. Experience in several of the following areas is highly desirable: recreation programming; sports officiating; group fitness instruction; personal fitness training; facility supervision and management; official's training; general student employee training and supervision; athletic coaching; and word processing. The successful candidate for the assistantship will have served as a positive, successful leader in his/her prior positions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
