Graduate Assistantships

Outdoor Pursuits Graduate Assistant

Whitney Dyer

 

As the Graduate Assistant for Outdoor Pursuits, I assist in the supervision of the Gear Shop staff, Climbing Wall staff, Trip Leaders and the Ropes Course Staff. Additionally, I aminvolved with the management of programs hosted by all Outdoor Pursuits entities to include the trip planning and budgeting, ropes course facilitation and scheduling, and the daily operations of both the indoor climbing wall, blue cruiser bike share and the gear shop equipment procurement and distribution. I assist the Coordinator in Outdoor Pursuits in the development and enforcement of policies and procedures for both Outdoor Pursuits patrons and student staff. I represent the Outdoor Pursuits Program and Campus Recreation at university events including meetings, recruitment efforts, and special events.

Silas Arnold

As the Graduate Assistant for the Outdoor Pursuits, I assist in the supervision of the Gear Shop staff, Climbing Wall staff, Trip Leaders and the Ropes Course staff.  Other aspects of my job involve coordinating and implementing outdoor programs, workshops, and climbing wall events.  This is my first year at UNC.  I am excited to work with the great staff at Outdoor Pursuits and explore all of the beautiful places in Colorado.  I received my bachelor’s degree in May 2015 at Western Kentucky University in Recreation Administration with a minor in Outdoor Leadership.  In my free time I enjoy whitewater paddling, backpacking, and eating good food.

Fitness and Wellness Graduate Assistant

Natalee Gonzalez

As the Graduate Assistant for Fitness and Wellness, I assist in the supervision of the Personal Training Staff, Group Fitness Instructors, and Lifeguards. Additionally, I am involved with the management of programs hosted by all Fitness and Wellness including the Living Well Program, Halloween at the Rec, Movie in the Pool and Women’s Only Swim nights. I assist the Coordinator in the development and enforcement of policies and procedures for both Fitness and Wellness patrons and student staff. I represent the Fitness and Wellness Program and Campus Recreation at university events including meetings, recruitment efforts, and special events.

Intramural Sports Graduate Assistant

Matt Rafferty

 

As the Graduate Assistant of Intramural Sports I am responsible for assisting in the hiring, training and evaluation of officials, scheduling staff and sport leagues, coordinating special events and tournaments and assisting in the day to day intramural activities.  My role is to assist the coordinator in promoting intramural sports by gaining more interest and developing our staff.  I received a bachelor's degree in Music Education from right here at the University of Northern Colorado.  I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Educational Leadership.  I also officiate high school sports as well as collegiate basketball and softball.
