Scott Schuttenberg
Director of Campus Recreation


As the Director of Campus Recreation it is my responsibility to oversee the Campus Recreation staff, programs and services.  In addition, a large part of my job involves management of the Campus Recreation operating budget.  My background is in facility management as well as Intramural and Club Sports.  I came to UNC thirteen years ago after working for the University of South Carolina.  I received a bachelor degree from UNC in Recreation Administration and a master degree from Oklahoma State University in Leisure Services Management.  In my free time I enjoy golfing, officiating high school football and spending time with my family.

Vince Carter

As the Associate Director, I am responsible for the administration of a range of services, including the implementation of the risk management plan, departmental assessment, coordination of facility rental reservations and organizing of special events. I partner with the Director of Campus Recreation to oversee the facility budget and the repair and replacement budget. As my education suggests, I enjoy the small school atmosphere. I earned my bachelor degree at Allentown College of St. Francis deSales (PA) in Sport Management and Business Communications and my master degree from Aurora University (IL) in Recreation Administration. I enjoy golfing, spending time with friends and family and exploring the great state of Colorado when I am away from work.

Katie Kage
Coordinator of Fitness and Wellness

Katie Kage

As the Coordinator of Fitness and Wellness, I am responsible for the daily operations of the Fitness programs as well as managing the Fitness staff which includes both personal trainers and group fitness instructors.  I am also responsible for all wellness services including nutrition and massage therapy.  I earned my bachelor degrees in Dietetics, Nutrition, and Kinesiology from Kansas-State University.  I then completed my Masters degree in Nutrition and Health Sciences and my PhD in Human Sciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  Away from work, I enjoy spending as much time outdoors as possible, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Brett Ford
Coordinator of Intramural Sports


As the Coordinator of Intramural Sports, I am responsible for the recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision and evaluation of the Intramural Sports staff.  I also prepare leagues, coordinate registration and team meetings, and schedule contests and facility use. As an undergraduate, I double-majored in the Monfort College of Business and I also received my graduate degree in Sport Administration from the University of Northern Colorado.  I also officiate high school sports, NCAA Division II College Football and Arena Football. .

Matt Rafferty
Intramural Sports Graduate Assistant

As the Graduate Assistant of Intramural Sports I am responsible for assisting in the hiring, training and evaluation of officials, scheduling staff and sport leagues, coordinating special events and tournaments and assisting in the day to day intramural activities.  My role is to assist the coordinator in promoting intramural sports by gaining more interest and developing our staff.  I received a bachelor's degree in Music Education from right here at the University of Northern Colorado.  I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Educational Leadership.  I also officiate high school sports as well as collegiate basketball and softball.

Daniel Lawrence
Coordinator of Outdoor Pursuits

As the Coordinator of Outdoor Pursuits, it is my responsibility to oversee our Adventure Trips, Gear Shop, Ropes Course, Climbing Wall and Blue Cruiser Bike Program.  Other aspects of my job involve assisting in department special events and student development.  I came to UNC in June 2009, after working for Belmont University as a Graduate Assistant and earning my master degree in Sport Administration.  I received my bachelor degree at Western Kentucky University in Recreation Administration. In my free time, I enjoy water sports, fishing, camping, exploring new places and spending time with friends.

Outdoor Pursuits Graduate Assistant

As the Graduate Assistant for Outdoor Pursuits, I assist in the supervision of the Gear Shop staff, Climbing Wall staff, Trip Leaders and the Ropes Course Staff. Additionally, I aminvolved with the management of programs hosted by all Outdoor Pursuits entities to include the trip planning and budgeting, ropes course facilitation and scheduling, and the daily operations of both the indoor climbing wall, blue cruiser bike share and the gear shop equipment procurement and distribution. I assist the Coordinator in Outdoor Pursuits in the development and enforcement of policies and procedures for both Outdoor Pursuits patrons and student staff. I represent the Outdoor Pursuits Program and Campus Recreation at university events including meetings, recruitment efforts, and special events.

Brent Wegsheider

As the Coordinator of Operations and Student Development, I am responsible for overseeing many of the student employees within the department. I provide leadership and direction for student employees and programs that are designed to provide positive leisure and informal recreation opportunities for students. Other aspects of my job include: member services and relations, Pro Shop sales and services, and student-employee development. I graduated from UNC with my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and my Master’s degree in Sports Administration. I am a Colorado native and enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love participating in and watching a wide variety of sports.

Keith Ramirez
Facility & Event Coordinator

As the Facility and Events Coordinator I oversee all Facility, Events, Equipment and Custodial Maintenance. I am also in charge of working with Departmental, Internal and External Groups on events and reservations within the Campus Recreation Center. I came to UNC in January of 2015 after working as a graduate assistant in Facilities at Old Dominion University where I received a Master’s in Sport Management. I originally hail from New Jersey, where I obtained my Bachelor’s in Sport Management at Rutgers University. In my free time I enjoy playing and watching sports, video games, snowboarding, hiking and exploring Colorado in general. I value hanging with my friends and family most of all.

As the Graduate Assistant for Facilities and Operations, I assist in the supervision of the Campus Recreation building staff, aquatics staff, special events, group rentals and member services. I assist in the development and enforcement of policies and procedures for both Campus Recreation patrons and student staff. I represent Campus Recreation at university events including meetings, recruitment efforts, and special events.

Jaclyn Gidley

As the Coordinator of Club Sports, I am responsible for the daily operations of all Club Sport teams at UNC and the Club Sport Supervisor staff.  I work directly with the Director of Campus Recreation to ensure that all UNC students are given the opportunity to develop personally and professionally on and off of their playing field.  I came to UNC in August 2014, after coming from Central Michigan University where I earned my Master’s degree in Administration and was the Graduate Assistant for Club Sports.  I am originally from central Indiana, where I graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with my Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management.  IWU is also where my husband and I met, and we are looking forward to experiencing Colorado and being involved in the UNC community.  In my free time I enjoy playing soccer, reading, scrapbooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Edie Dolben
Administrative Assistant III


My position involves administrative support for the Department of Campus Recreation. I am responsible for supporting the full-time staff, accounting processes, managing hiring processes and memberships, and customer service. I have a bachelor degree in Physics and Mathematics as well as an associate degree in Aviation Technology. I returned to UNC and Greeley after working as a scientist for 18 years. I also work as a flight instructor at the Greeley Weld-County Airport.
