The Campus Recreation Center, with over 90,000 square feet of activity space, is one of the most popular locales on campus. The Recreation Center is a multi-purpose facility for the recreational and fitness needs of the students and employees of the University of Northern Colorado.
The Campus Recreation Center offers formal and drop-in fitness, recreational sports and wellness programs. There are large activity spaces for strength training and conditioning, three multi-purpose gymnasiums with hardwood floors (featuring a total of six basketball courts), an indoor 1/10 mile jogging track, two racquetball courts, an indoor climbing wall, two group fitness and exercise rooms, locker rooms, meeting spaces and department administrative offices. Campus Recreation programs also utilize 2 lighted synthetic turf fields, 6 lighted natural turf fields, and various other fields throughout campus.
The Campus Recreation Center also offers several drop-in opportunities for swimming, as well as provides various programs and services.
The Butler-Hancock Pool is shared by Athletics, Sports & Exercise Science, and Campus Recreation. It is a 25-yard, six-lane lap swim pool with a diving well. Campus Recreation patrons are permitted to use the one-meter diving board when there is proper lifeguard supervision.
For Campus Recreation Center patrons, the pool is available through the Locker Rooms. On the other side of the Locker Rooms, there is a ramp leading to the Butler-Hancock Pool Entrance. All Recreation Swimmers must enter via the Campus Recreation Center. Athletics and SES Classes must enter via the Butler-Hancock Building.
