Group Fitness Instructor Training
Description:
Learn the skills necessary to become a certified instructor! The UNC Campus Recreation Group Fitness Instructor Training Program will provide participants with the information, education, and practical experience needed to become a group fitness instructor.
The program consists of extensive practical and theoretical training, including basic anatomy and kinesiology, exercise physiology, teaching techniques, class design, cuing and choreography, safety and injury prevention, and an introduction to working with special populations.
Course Includes:
- 24 hours of Practical and Theoretical training
- 12 hours Classroom Training and Lecture
- 12 hours Supervised Teaching Practice (focusing on Kickbox, Strength, Yoga and Cycling formats)
- 8 hours Independent Participation in Group Fitness Classes
- FITpass for 6-week Training Period ($14 Value)
- Adult CPR & AED Certification ($45 Value)
- Educational Handouts and Group Fitness Instructor Resources
- Certificate of Completion
- Preparation for a National Certification Exam
- Opportunity to Audition to Become a UNC Group Fitness Instructor
- Lead by Certified Fitness Professionals
