Club Information:
UNC Rugby was established in 1969, and hosted the national championship in 1982. Since the inception of the club, UNC rugby has been at the forefront of collegiate rugby in Colorado, where it belongs to the Eastern Rockies Rugby Football Union. Within the last ten years UNC rugby has been in the national Division II spotlight.
UNC Men's Rugby finished in the top five four out of the last six years, became the national runner-up in 2003, won the National Championship in 2005, and finished again as the national runner-up in 2006.
In 2008/2009 the BEARS earned the 1st seed in the Western Rugby Union Men's DII Regionals, hosted by UNC. In the semi-finals the bears beat a quality team from St. Louis University. Do to complications with the weather the Bears played only one match, advancing to the USA Rugby National Guard College Playoffs.
This fall semester, UNC Men's Rugby went undefeated in conference play and played hard against Division I foes Wyoming, CSU, and CU. The team is looking forward to another great spring season. They will be traveling to Baton Rouge, LA to compete in the Western Regional Playoffs and hopefully continuing on to the National Tournament in Orlando, FL.
