Men's Rugby

Club Information:

UNC Rugby was established in 1969, and hosted the national championship in 1982. Since the inception of the club, UNC rugby has been at the forefront of collegiate rugby in Colorado, where it belongs to the Eastern Rockies Rugby Football Union. Within the last ten years UNC rugby has been in the national Division II spotlight.

UNC Men's Rugby was the national runner-up in 2003, won the National Championship in 2005, and finished again as the national runner-up in 2006.

In 2008/2009 the BEARS earned the 1st seed in the Western Rugby Union Men's DII Regionals, hosted by UNC. In the semi-finals the bears beat a quality team from St. Louis University. Do to complications with the weather, the Bears played only one match, advancing to the USA Rugby National Guard College Playoffs.

For the 2009-2010 season UNC Men's Rugby went undefeated in conference play and played hard against Division I foes Wyoming, CSU, and CU. The team earned the #1 seed in the Western Rugby Union Regional Championships which were played in Baton Rouge, LA.

The 2010-2011 season was a very successful season finishing with an overall record of 10 – 4, competing against The University of Colorado, Colorado State University, Mines, University of New Mexico, and several other school across the Nation. The team went undefeated in the Eastern Rockies conference and earned an invite to compete at Nationals.
