Campus Recreation strives to ensure a safe, affirming, and nurturing environment for UNC students and staff. Inherent in this mission is a belief that a strong community is built upon, and enriched by, both commonalities and differences. We recognize and celebrate the fact that UNC students, staff, and faculty have diverse characteristics and backgrounds. We actively demonstrate our commitment to the success of all community members through our programs, policies, and services. We foster a welcoming environment based upon open and considerate dialogue, mutual understanding, and respect for individual differences. We are committed to social justice as a tool to create change within our department, our campus, and local and global communities.
Culture of C.A.R.E
Enrollment Management & Student Access staff members are expected to positively contribute to our division’s Culture of CARE (Connect, Attitude, Respect, and Empathy). Culture of CARE emphasizes empathy, community building, civility, recognition and exceptional customer service.
The Campus Recreation staff invites all individuals to join in the activities offered at the Rec Center. The Campus Recreation Center was designed to be physically accessible. Specialized equipment includes a lift in the swimming pool, a counter-balanced climbing system at the indoor climbing wall, and an upper-body cycle (i.e. upper-body ergometer) in the strength and conditioning area on the first floor. Programs are designed to meet a variety of ability and fitness levels, and personal fitness trainers are available at competitive prices to assist you with your personal fitness program. We encourage you to meet with the professional staff of the department in order to address your specific needs and interests. For a personal tour of Campus Recreation programs and facilities, please contact the Entry Desk, 351-2062, or simply stop by the Rec Center.
