Teaching Academy for Online Learning (TAO) - CLOSED FOR NEW APPLICATIONS
The summer Teaching Academy for Online Learning (TAO) provides a unique opportunity for faculty who are new to online learning to develop a new online course using the Quality Matters standards. The Academy is delivered in a hybrid mode, with an online component and face to face sessions for three Fridays in June. The online component provides the attendees with the experience of being an online student, giving them insight that will help them become better online instructors.
During the Academy attendees learn how to plan, design and deliver an online course. The face to face workshops provide the opportunity for sharing of information, presentations from experienced online faculty, exploration of online resources and sample online courses, and other learning activities.
This year the Academy was held at the Centerra office. (link to map)

After the formal training was completed, attendees worked with the Instructional Designers to finish the planning and development of an online course. Deadline for completion: July 31. A stipend was awarded to faculty members who complete the requirements of the Academy.
