Getting a BearMail Account
When you are admitted to UNC, a BearMail
account is automatically created the day after admission. This account
is the one used by faculty and University offices to communicate with you so
its important to use your UNC Student Email. For example, notices of your
Financial Aid award letter are sent to your UNC Student Email account.
Here are some things you will want to know:
- You can access your BearMail
account on the Web, using UNCs
BearMail
site. Just use any browser with internet access.
- To find your email address go to the
main
URSA page and there is a link
labeled "New Student? Click
here" and another labeled
"New Students Start Here".
They go to the same place and can be used to activate your email/URSA
account. You will need your Bear Number to log into this
utility. This activation is meant to work only one time, so if
this does not work you will need to contact the technical Support
Center at (970) 351-4357.
- You can find both
URSA and
Bearmail links off of the Current Student page at
http://www.unco.edu/current.
- You will need to check your Bearmail
account for a
forward as the current process creates Bearmail accounts and
puts the email account the student had listed in their record
before they were a student( if there was one ) as a forward in their
Bearmail.
- You can forward BearMail
to another account (hotmail, yahoo, etc.) - visit this URL for
instructions:
Forwarding
- Your account is active as long as you are enrolled for Fall
and Spring terms, you do not have to enroll for Summer term classes.
- For more information, visit the links on the left side column of this website.
Here are some email terms you will hear on campus:
BearMail
- the software UNC uses to provide Student
Email on the Web.
Blue
- the name of the server hosting the Student Email
accounts.
URSA - The UNC portal where a student can also access their
email.
