Pop-Up Blocker Issues:

Students may experience Pop-Up blocker issue when trying to "compose" or "reply" to emails:

Pop-Up Blocker issues may be caused by Browsers themselves or by 3rd party ToolBars installed on desktop PCs like Yahoo Toolbar, MSN Toolbar, or Google ToolbarNorton Personal Firewall also has a Pop-Up blocker and will need to be customized or deactivated.

The most common Pop-Up Blocker issue will probably be Internet Explorer so we will start with that.
If IE PopUp Blocker is on and a compose message is selected the "Compose Message" window that
should pop up may get blocked as seen below:

You have the option of clicking the Pop-up notify bar right there and then::

You have a several selections open to you so it is up to you on how you want to customize Pop-up Blocking behavior.  To access the Pop-up Blocker form the browser toolbar see picture below:

You have the option of turning off Pop-up Blocking altogether of adding a site as seen below:

Type the name of the site you want to be able to have Pop-up abilities and select "Add"

It then becomes an "Allowed site".

3rd Party ToolBar Pop-up Blocker example - Yahoo Toolbar:

If you have Yahoo Toolbar installed you will see the Pop-up Blocker icon as shown by the red check mark below:

If Yahoo Toolbar is blocking Pop-ups for the Bearmail application what will happen if you compose a message as shown by the red check near "Compose" is it will block the "Compose Message" window that would have popped up and if you look at the bottom of the browser you may see "A pop-up window was blocked" message and the progress bar will run until a timeout is reached as shown by the red circles.

You can enable the blue.unco.edu Bearmail email site by going to the Yahoo Toolbar menu item as seen below, again it is up to you how you want to manage Pop-ups.

* If you are getting the compose or reply window blocked and cannot figure out what is doing it, for instance you make hear a "beep" when you select compose or reply to an email but there is no visual indication of what is doing the Pop-up blocking, a very handy trick is to try holding down the "Ctrl" key while you click on the compose or reply-to button.  This tells the browser to by-pass Pop-up blocking in most cases.
