I have two majors:  Spanishand Mexican American Studies, both with an emphasis in Secondary Education. I’m minoring in Psychology.

I have a lot of relatives who have graduated from UNC. The fact that UNC had the major I wanted, and my family history, made UNC the right choice for me.

I’d like to teach Spanish and Mexican American Studies in middle school on a military base. The military is very structures and I like that. Plus, I think I’d be working with some great kids.

I’m a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

We do a lot of service projects. We put on a March to College program for middle schoolers, where they came to UNC and did lots of activities, heard guest speakers and had a tour. It’s a way to get these kids thinking about college and their future.

The Rec Center is a great place, and I especially enjoy the swimming pool. They also have lots of equipment, and it’s never over crowded. They also offer lots of classes. I took Exercise through Latin Dancing!

My mother and I are going to Mexico to study this summer for six weeks, through an immersion program at UNC. We’ll live with a family there and attend classes. My mom is studying first year Spanish and I’m doing a higher level. It’s designed to help us be able to think like Spanish speakers, so we can teach them more effectively.

I like to visit historical sites in Colorado. I am fascinated by the architecture. I recently got to visit the home of the Colorado governor, the Boetcher Mansion. It is truly an amazing place.

There’s so much to do around here. I go boating, kayaking, tubing down the Poudre River. With I-25 so close, I can go to Denver for Colorado Springs or head to Cheyenne for Frontier Days. Everything is close. I don’t feel isolated.
