Dr. Vish Iyer
Attended Mexico State University for undergraduate degree, Western New Mexico University for Master’s degree, and Texas A & M University for PhD.
- Favorite off campus restaurant:
-
Casadorez for Mexican, Carino’s for Italian,
Texas Road House for steaks and Star of India in Fort Collins for Indian.
- Favorite past time:
- playing golf, watching movies, eating exotic foods, shop-
talk with my colleagues
- Best advice for incoming freshmen:
- Your first semester is the most critical
semester because of the transition into college life. Therefore, take
classes that you think and know you will enjoy. Also, please make sure you have a “balance” between your outside activities and classroom studies. It is very easy to lose track of the “balance” for you will find the “newfound freedom” very seductive and you could misplace your priorities with the least amount of effort. Always keep your focus on why you are here and be ready and willing to learn anew
- Favorite spot on campus:
- Kepner Hall, where I interact with my students
and colleagues.
- Favorite Song:
- “My Way,” written by Paul Anka for Frank Sinatra.
- Favorite food on campus:
- T/K dining hall. It’s a far cry from what I used to get fed as an undergraduate student at New Mexico State University!
