UNC is kind of a family place for me. My uncle went here and played on the football team when they won the National Championship. I feel comfortable here. It’s closer to home than the other schools that recruited me, and I like the size of the campus. It makes you feel at home.
I lived in McCowen Hall during my first year, and it’s where I met a lot of my friends. Living in the dorm gave me fewer things to worry about. I dint’ have to worry about paying bills, buying food, fixing food. My friends were two doors down…
I started out as an Economics major, and realized there was way too much math for my liking.
There’s a group of guys that I hang out with, and do we do all the Intramural sports together as a team.
I work for the Center for International Education, where I’m a Study Abroad advisor.
One of the great things about UNC is all of the opportunities I’ve had here. The fact that I could actually go to another country and study their language is great. Last year, I studied in China for a month. This summer, I’m going to China for three months to study, and I’ll be in Beijing during the Olympics.
All of my political science professors have been great, especially Dr. Blair. I’ve had three of his classes and will have three more before I graduate. He actually encourages and forces students to think about what they’re doing, saying and writing. He respects a well-reasoned argument, and being held to that high of a level is nice. He requires you to defend your arguments and positions.
I probably spend more time at the Rec Center than the Library, actually. I do rock climbing, volleyball, lifting and running. There’s a great indoor track for during the cold weather.
