I chose to attend UNC because it is one of the best schools in the nation for music and performing.

When I graduate, I intend to join my twin brother in New York and pursue my lifelong dream, which is to perform in any way.

Dr. Melissa Malde teaches voice and pedagogy.  I’ve learned about the relationship between my body and my voice. She has been my confidence, my patron saint.  She just keeps me going.

The Opera program at UNC just opened its arms to me, and I found it’s where I fit best.

While at UNC, I had the lead in the musical Titanic, and in the Marriage of Figaro.

UNC has helped me prepare for my future by giving me the tools and confidence to keep trucking along. They’ve also given me the experience of rejection. I’ve auditioned for shows and there’s a point where you just don’t get stuff. I’ve had to realize that rejection is just part of the big picture.

Every year, I pick apples from the trees outside of Frasier Hall. I make pies with butter and give them to my favorite faculty members and people I have crushes on. I do it every fall.

I love Central Campus. It’s beautiful and old style. The landscaping is gorgeous and it feels very creative. The West Campus feels more left-brain. It has to do more with athletics and science. I just love how it all works together.

The other day we played a huge game of Capture the Flag with about 50 people on Central Campus—at night! It was fabulous.
